Academy of Arts & Communications SENIOR PROJECT

The artist statement we worked on in class helped us further our knowledge of what is being done and in this case, it was making a video. This video was a roller coaster to make and the development made us think more about what we could do to get around the problems we faced.
This is the beginning of the script.  I tried to incorporate the facts about the island so it builds interest and the audience can learn a new thing or two.
Our final proposal helped us decide on what we want to do and how we will connect it with our project.

Kalapaki is right down the road from my boyfriend's house, so we went to the beach, I shot footage of him and the beach, and ate dinner at Duke's with his mom. I used the same walking shot so I can use it in the video as a transition of shots. On this day of filming it was hard mostly because I was crunching on time. This was tough because I had to get all of my desired shots in about 10 minutes. I am most proud of getting the water when it rises and the walking scene to tie in the videos.

On this day, I was with my sister, her girlfriend and my brother they fished while I filmed around them. While shooting I had to try and keep the phone stable. What I should have done was brought a tripod or stabilize the phone with a rock maybe. The shot types I used were mediums and close-ups mostly. I got wides of the ocean so the viewer can take a first-hand look at Kauai's blue beaches.

ANB 2.0 - WNN November 22, 2019

This week Lester and myself worked on the sports, community, weather and sports segment. Our segment was a little bit extra than it should have been before turning it in. We used many black boxes which were unnecessary. To change that we need to plan better when shooting. As season 2 of our show comes to an end soon with only 2 episodes left, I hope our audience has gained new knowledge and some interest in being a broadcast studio. I also hope they feel closer to us as students. Related to Broadcast Media, the biggest takeaway I've learned from this class so far is project planning, script writing, hustle and video making. From video making I also learned how to use the camera and Final Cut editing. This class has inspired me to make better videos on my YouTube channel as well.

ANB 4.0 - WNN November 8, 2019

This week Sam and I worked on Special Segment where we reviewed YouTube styles. Out of the three segments on our show, my favorite would be on-camera hosting because I look professional and I can read off the computer without it being noticed. I also like editing the script. My least favorite would be doing Sports because it is a lot of work and sometimes hard to get the long lines. I would like to produce school news for the next episode because I think it would be a challenge using the CTE Fair, but I think it will be fun as well. An idea I have for our season finale is doing a huge blooper real and a lot of laughs, though I may cry. I am also excited to see what our finale will become.

ANB 1.0 - WNN November 1, 2019

This week I worked on the School News with Kamalei. We can increase our viewership and entertainment value as we progress towards our final few shows of the year by having more posts and taking more broll of our behind the scenes. Producing an episode and meeting our deadline is very important especially when we have to produce every week. Getting approved early is the ideal event. This justifies for a more relaxed because we work hard all week and we look forward to Friday and sometimes donuts! In all seriousness it gives us motivation and shows us hard work pays off.
