Leaps and Bounds Pre-School Promotional Video



This video started out as an extra project for broadcast, but it later became a way to get mentor hours for my senior project. I worked with Laura Morishita the director at Leaps and Bounds Preschool in Lihue. Before shooting we did a walkthrough of the building planning and mapping out where I will be walking and standing so she wouldn't pump into me or an accident happening. While mapping Breanna, my partner, took behind the scenes photos as seen below. Laura and I also talked about the main places she would and wouldn't like to be shown in the video, for example, her office. During this experience, I have learned to get out of my comfort zone and work alone when it comes to freelancing and working for someone else besides in school projects. Working for a client and producing a product for business had a lot of pressure, but I did work through it. I cannot forget how much support I got from my broadcast teacher, Mr.Sanderl and my classmate, Brianne for producing the music. After showing Laura and her husband the video they came up with more suggestions and we planned a new shooting date. This will help the video and Laura get the promotional video it deserves. Our scheduled shooting date is January 17th and with more discussion with Laura and her husband we came up with more ideas of how long and what kind of video they want to produce. With an open mind and using my professional advice we came up with the above video. Below is the first try for the video.

ANB 6.0 - WNN December 20, 2019

For our last week in broadcast, I worked on the special segment with Kamalei and that resulted in us doing a man on the street and a blooper reel. I also edited the sports segment which was fun too. After this semester I think one of my proudest moments is getting through my first host segment and one of the substantial fails would be not knowing we could sign out laptops. That was a groundbreaking discovery. One area of personal growth would be working with people I wasn't comfortable around yet like for example I was very intimidated by working with Kamalei because I didn't know her personally, but now we are super close. This stood out to me because I know in life I will meet new people and especially in the industry I will be around new and the same people all the time.

ANB 6.0 - WNN December 6, 2019

This week I and Seth worked on the school news where we talk about the pavilion project and the student's contribution to the project. In the story, it also talks about what else needs to be done to finish the project and plans that will happen after one pavilion is complete. With producing the news it takes a lot of time and effort to come up with ideas and do research if possible with having more time I believe we can have a more impacting show. On the contrary, having more time will let students push their work another day meaning they may push it off for tomorrow. I am not too sure if others are disappointed, but I do know Mr. Antonio is disappointed. He believes we lost our consistency streak. For our Season Finale, we should do something different from what we have been doing. Instead of having groups on each segment maybe mashing all the segments into one huge special segment. Also, instead of having long school news maybe just state all things happening. Something different I think will keep our audience entertained, engaged and excited for next season.
