ALD 3.0 - Hiki No Final Cut

Our story topic is showing the Kauai Resilience Project and what they do to aid Kauai's youth.  From watching our video the audience will learn about the Resilience Project and how they suggest to help out our youth who are going through a rough time. This topic is unfortunately common on Kauai and having this video released and out there would help youth know there are help and resources out there for them. After our rough cut, we took notes on how we can better our video and make it relevant towards what exactly the project is made of. Our lowest score and what we need to work on is the b-roll and sequencing. To improve our score we will be shooting activities that the project organizes and also some other b-roll to support interviews for audiovisual ties.

There is an act called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This act simply is an updated version of the already set copyright laws of media. One example is copyright infringement and that is the use of another person's work without their permission. If a person doesn't comply then they might have to pay from $200 to $150,000. To avoid these outcomes a person could ask the owner of the work via email or telephone. Another way is getting a permission agreement in writing. There is also another way which is "Fair Use". "Fair Use" is the grant of copyrighted material without the need for permission of the creator. Two examples would be, using a song for a parody and news reporting.
It is essential to gain permission to film on a location because a person could stop production because the team is trespassing, that would result in changing the next part of the film. Planning itself is a long process, having to redirect would be crucial to the film. Video release forms are also important. A video release form is a form that allows a third party to use the appearance of a person both in video and photography. It is mandatory for professional video production because a person could take it as far as suing someone and that would not look good for the company. After we had our critique our team was satisfied with the results. Our lowest score was in sequencing the B-roll and to be more mindful and address it better in the future we can do more planning and have more feedback ahead of time. Our editing techniques improved and to achieve that we took the advice from Mr.Sanderl and used it to further produce a better quality of the video.
