Final Portfolio Artist Statement

For my final portfolio, I wanted to create something new that I haven't done, shooting in low-key lighting and editing using black and white. I wanted to add a few creative touches while still having that same theme. I hope my images communicate the artistry of my camera skills. Another thing I want to communicate is that no matter what there will always be beauty in a dark circumstance.

My main goal was to come up with 24 photos with a common theme. Another goal was to use my time wisely by organizing when I will be shooting and days I will be editing. Some challenges during this process was trying to hold up my camera with a makeshift tripod, thinking about lighting, and executing the shot the way I wanted to.

My Final Portfolio says that I am more than just a portrait photographer or videographer. I want to show off the other side of me, a self portrait photographer.

His work intrigued me to choose him because it does show creativity and he inspires me to shoot my photos in different ways. David Lachapelle has an interesting portfolio and I think from his work I can think of ways to better my work.
