Modern Art Movement

In my presentation the cultural movement that gave rise to Feminist Art is the Feminist Theory, which is the understanding of gender inequality. My art movement has an influence on the arts and communication industry because now women have more job opportunities. Artists contribute and fulfill a social need in their artwork in many ways. For example, the "Guerrilla Girls" showed facts in their work. " Do women have to have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum? Less than 5% of the artists in the Modern Art Sections are women, but 85% of the nudes are female." I think Feminist Art is very powerful and I like the fact that the art is showing some very important messages.

"Point and Shoot" by Martha Rosler 2008
I chose this art piece because I get the message that women are categorized into joining the model industry when there's more important roles out there, like being a soldier for the country. I do think a single artist with many pieces has the ability to persuade someone's opinion on women. In feminist artwork there is meaning and if someone explained it to another person than maybe they'll change their mind. In my opinion technology advances aided the cultural impact of skilled art production by having more digital media artwork pieces. The more advance technology gets the more advance the artwork gets. The use of technology also helped the distribution of the pieces worldwide.

Workplace Safety

The project goal of the safety video was to show proper sitting, standing, and usage of stairs. My teammates, Michael and Tara, are very friendly and fun people to work with. I'm happy I got to be in their group. In the group, we had similar roles to contribute which was filming each other's scenes and helping create the script and visual plan. I feel like I deserve recognition for giving my best effort because I directed most of the scenes and gave some good ideas. My team also gave their best effort and I couldn't have come up with the ideas without them.
The biggest "takeaway" in this project would be the stair scene where Michael falls down the stairs because after our video played the audience remembered that particular scene. I learned more about communication in developing this video because when there was a new scene we would talk to each other about what angle would look better in the video and how each actor would react in the ways appropriate to the audio being said. Our highest score was on "Entertainment Value" and I agree with this because even my teammates laughed at some parts of the video. Our lowest score was under "Clarity of Audio" which I agree and disagree on because only the beginning had a stumble, but I don't really believe it deserved our lowest score. The confines that came with this project like wind, the iPad, and some windy areas we worked around. We moved around to find the quietest place to film our audio. The cameraman/women would use the shooting stances to make the footage more steady. I think our team could've had more visual shots to increase our production value of our finished video.

Art and Design

In a "Still Life" painting the elements of art used is line, which is used to define edges, value, which is the darkness or lightness of a color and can be measured through the use of a value scale, and texture, this refers to the way an object feels to the touch or looks as it may feel if it were touched. I got this information from "The Virtual Instructor" . I used line when I contoured the image of the bracelet, also when I added value to the shadows of the bracelet. When using value I made the the lines closer together when the image had darker areas and where the image is lighter I made the lines further apart. I used texture where on pedals, also in the leafs. The size of the brush tool and controlling the value scale of my image is easy when knowing how to use it. Keeping the thin lines closer together leads to the value being darker. Having the lines apart making the value lighter. The most enjoyable part of this painting project would be when we contoured because I was focused on doing one thing and not worrying about anything else. The part I found boring is the texture and making repetitive lines, which I got used to doing, because I was clicking the same buttons most of the time. Overall, this project was really fun.
This picture was taken during our evacuation drill behind Mahelona. The difference between this landscape image and the still life image is the use of value. In the landscape image there is more vivid values, whereas , in the still life image where the values are not as smooth. Texture in both images are really different because in the still life there is texture using lines, but in the landscape the texture looks smudged and evenly distributed. Some similarities would be the use of lines. Even though the lines are being used in fairly different ways there is lines being used.  Going through the process I used more of the steps from the second video, but I still followed some steps from the first video. The technique I used made the image look more like a water color painting with some pencil markings.

The portrait I am using is a photo of my girlfriend and I at the pool at her apartment. This photo means a lot to me because she's one of the most important people in my life. Elements of Art is being used in this mix portrait. For example, lines are being used to contour the left part of  the photo, shape is used to identify the object or person, form and texture is being used to show the form and feeling of the photo if it were to be touched, value, space, and color keeps the photo more intriguing to the viewer. After viewing my results I agree with most of the results. I disagree with the "Novice" for my still image. I am happy that most of the results especially my mix image being mostly "Expert". My landscape image got the most votes for professional, which was 21, and I am super happy that others thought that my work is looking professional.

Audio Production

Intonation and inflection can be used to maintain the interest of my audience by making the words more interesting to listen to instead of having a robot voice. Intonation is the rise and fall of the voice in speaking. Keeping my voice in one volume would make the audience bored, but when I bring it up and down to add depth to my voice the audience would become more intrigued in what I'm saying. Inflection is the stress in a word being said. Having stress on certain words would make the audience listen more. For example, instead of saying "Your prize is $1,000 plus a new car," a game show host would exaggerate some words like, "Your prize is $1,000 PLUS a new car!" In this assignment I am a vocal talent and my roles is to come up with a part to say from different information and rehearse my part for the radio broadcast. The rehearsal process is very important before recording the entire script in one take because we need to know our part and make sure we can pronounce words correctly. Teammates would have to rely on you for making sure you have your point down for recording.

From the critique we had most of our votes in the "Clarity of Speaker's Voices" category.  We did really well in making the audience stay in tuned and the specific message I think was given throughout our audio. We kept the audience intrigued by using intonation. One obstacle I had to face was saying the word "certification",which was hard to overcome. Once my team leader said the word a couple of times I was able to say it with all confidence. If my team was able to redo this project I think we could do the audio better. We sent in the audio we made on the first try which was the best we could after that we messed up big time. I think we could've done better, but the nerves got to us after our first try.
